I took Nicholas snow skiing a few weeks ago. There are so many blogs that could come as a result of that trip that I will be milking that topic for weeks!

One blog might be entitled "Broken." We saw so many people get hurt and have to be carried off the slopes. There was some bloody noses, head injuries and I'm sure at least one girl broke her arm. It is a wild and dangerous sport! I count myself blessed to have returned with most pieces and parts in tact.

Another blog could be "Frozen." It was -4 degrees on the morning we left. We had left canned drinks in the back of the car and the ones that did not explode were frozen solid. I completely understood this because I was frozen solid and wanted to explode. I drove three hours before I took my ski coat and gloves off. My eye lashes had frost on them and this was inside the car!

I might write one called "Lost." We got to the top of a mountain on our ride home and the GPS wigged out. I could see a rode ahead of me but the GPS showed nothing. According to the GPS, the road ended. We were literally at the end of the road – perhaps the end of the world or maybe it just felt like it. Thankfully, the GPS (who I affectionately call "Clarice") was wrong … and not for the first time, might I add.

I do so love when I get ahold of some good blogging material. Nick and I both love to snow ski! In fact, this is the second time we've been this year. When we got to the slopes with all our gear, I noticed the tag was still hanging from his jacket from the previous trip. I said, "Nick you might want to cut that tag off so you can attach your new one." This particular resort actually scans your tag every time you get on the lift. That is their method of verifying that you have paid for a current lift ticket. Anyway, I suggested that he remove the old ticket so the new one would be visible and easily scanned. I LOVE LOVE LOVE his reply … He said, "No, I want to leave it on there. That let's them know this is not my first time."

I thought that was precious! He wanted to be sure that they knew that he was not a beginner. He had been around the block (mountain) a time or two. That tag made a statement. It said, "I'm an old pro and I've done this before."

You know we are a lot like that. We have tags or scars that show the world that we aren't beginners. They tell the world that this isn't our first time. Bill Cosby said that "gray hairs are God's graffiti." We go through experiences and tragedies and hard times and a lot of good times, too, and we have the marks (tags) to show for it. That's why I try not to complain too much when the gray hairs glisten in the sunlight a little more than they used to or the crow's feet and wrinkles (crinkles as some people say) seem to be a bit more pronounced than they once were. Those scars just tell the world that I've been down this road before.

Wear your tags proudly.
