Hightech Communications, an electronic security provider, was presented the Small Business of the Month Award for October by the Rocky Mount Area Chamber of Commerce.

From its opening by Larry High with one employee and one service vehicle, Hightech has grown to a nine-person staff with six vehicles. High was joined by his brother, Steve High, in 1994.

Hightech emphasizes personal service, including customized security packages and their installation, for its 2,500 commercial, farm and residential accounts across Eastern North Carolina. In addition to burglary and fire alarms, Hightech also works with access-control and closed-circuit television systems.

In civic life, the Highs and Hightech are active in or support the Rocky Mount Area Chamber of Commerce, First Baptist and Englewood United Methodist churches, the Faith Christian School Board of Directors, the Nash Community College Foundation, local middle and high school athletic teams and the Pregnancy Care Centers in Rocky Mount and Wilson.

Hightech’s office is at 142 Roundabout Court, Rocky Mount. For information, call 243-7937.
