The Kerr Cares for Kids Foundation is running a food and toy drive through Dec. 21 in Kerr Drug stores statewide.

Collection bins are at the front of each of the chain’s stores. Items collected will be distributed Dec. 22 by an agency chosen by each store’s manager. The Kerr Drug in Nashville is working with My Sister’s House domestic violence shelter.

“Kerr Drug and its Kerr Cares for Kids Foundation launched our community collections this year as a way to extend the pioneering community pharmacy work we began with our founding 60 years ago,” said Anthony “Tony” Civello, the chain’s CEO.

Founded in 2000, Kerr Cares is a 501(c)3 nonprofit group that helps children who are underprivileged, challenged or need assistance to overcome debilitating or left-threatening health conditions. Other programs it has supported include N.C. Special Olympics and the Ronald McDonald Houses in Chapel Hill and Durham.

Kerr Drug local store is at 703 E. Washington St., Nashville.
