Cobb takes vice president's post

Providence Bank has named an industry veteran its vice president and area executive for the Tarboro/Edgecombe area.

Steve M. Cobb brings more than 26 years experience in community bank lending, including commercial, agricultural, and general retail service, to the position, a release says.

“Providence Bank is excited to have Steve join us,” John A. Barker, its president and CEO, said in the release. “We believe his knowledge of this market, coupled with his experience in branch management, will be a huge benefit to us and to our customers.”

Cobb earned an associate degree from Louisburg College and a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and graduated from the Commercial Lending School at East Carolina University.

In civic life, he has served on the board of directors for Tarboro Community Outreach, the Tarboro/Edgecombe Chamber of Commerce, Tarboro-Edgecombe Habitat for Humanity and the Tarboro Rotary Club.

He and his wife, Frankie, a retired school teacher at Tarboro High School, have one child, Stephanie. The Cobbs attend St. James United Methodist Church in Tarboro.

Established in 2006, Providence Bank is a full-service commercial bank with four locations in Nash and Edgecombe counties. It has assets of $244 million.
