FITNESS

Senior fitness: The Rocky Mount Senior Center will hold a water aerobics class at 9 a.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The monthly cost is $17 for city residents and $25 for others. For information, call 972-1561.

Cancer: The American Cancer Society is seeking licensed cosmetologists to conduct the “Look Good, Feel Better” program on the second Monday of each month at Nash UNC Health Care. The workshop helps female cancer patients cope with appearance-related side effects of chemotherapy and radiation treatment by learning skin care and makeup applications as well as demonstrations on hair and wig techniques. Health services: The Nash County Health Department has expanded its child and adolescent health clinic at its Nashville and Rocky Mount offices. Breast cancer: The Breast Recovery and Support Group, a support group for newly diagnosed breast cancer patients receiving care from Nash UNC Health Care or affiliated providers, meets at 6 p.m. the first Tuesday of each month in the lobby of the Nash Breast Care Center, which is on the second floor of the medical office mall, 2460 Curtis Ellis Drive. Cancer: The Bosom Buddies support group for women with any type of cancer meets at 7 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month in the first floor classroom of Vidant Edgecombe Hospital, 111 Hospital Drive, Tarboro. Mental health: The Mental Wellness Support Group of Mental Health America of The Tar River Region, which brings together adults facing similar mental issues, meets from noon to 1:30 p.m. on the fourth Monday of each month at the Mental Health America’s office, 2501 Sunset Ave. Preregistration is required.
