RICHMOND, VA. - The marriage of Miss Emily Elizabeth Stainback, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Dudley Stainback of Richmond, Va., to Mr. Wesley Daniel Ballance, son of Dr. and Mrs. Luther Daniel Ballance Jr. of Rocky Mount, took place on Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Cannon Memorial Chapel at the University of Richmond. Deacon David Nemetz officiated. Tom Kaczmarek and The Raposo String Trio accompanied cantor Jennifer Ivens, all of St. Michael’s Catholic Church.
Emily is the granddaughter of Mrs. Betty Lucy Stainback of Richmond and the late Mr. Soland Franklin Stainback, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Martin Matthew Schorn, formerly of Cape Charles, on Virginia’s Eastern Shore.
Wesley is the grandson of the late Mr. andMrs. Luther Daniel Ballance Sr., formerly of Rocky Mount, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Noah Wiggins, formerly of Wilson.
Mrs. Leah Gehrman Sin of Raleigh, served as matron of honor.
The bridesmaids were Miss Anna Margaret Ballance of Uppsala, Sweden, sister of the groom; Mrs. Brittany Gail Dixon and Mrs. Taylor Oliver Fox of Richmond; Miss Katherine Denise Jones and Mrs. Meghan Ritch O’Brien of Wendell; Mrs. Kristin Leigh Jones of Houston, Texas; Mrs. Amy Nicholas Rostan of Midlothian, VA, and Mrs. Bailey Hardy Underhill of Knightdale.
Miss Emme Grace Seymour served as flower girl.
Miss Macy Elizabeth Seymour served as greeter.
Dr. Luther Daniel Ballance Jr. was his son’s best man.
The groomsmen were Mr. Matthew Franklin Stainback of Manakin-Sabot, VA., brother of the bride; Mr. William Gray Daughtridge III and Mr. Philip Lafayette Dixon IV of Rocky Mount; Mr. Ryan Matthew Hicks of Bluffton, S.C.; Mr. Brandon Day Holland of Atlanta, Ga.; Mr. Andrew Ryan Price of Charlotte; and Mr. Richard Joon Sin and Mr. Thomas Bradford Young of Raleigh.
Mr. Reese McClarmock Veasey served as ring bearer.
Mr. Wade Battle Veasey served as greeter.
Mrs. Clair Carter Bell of Staunton, VA., godmother of the bride, and Mrs. Elaine Robertson of Nashville, N.C., godmother of the groom, served as readers of scripture.
The reception, hosted by the bride’s parents, followed the ceremony at Hermitage Country Club in Manakin-Sabot, VA.
The rehearsal dinner, hosted by the groom’s parents, was held Friday evening at the Jepson Center of the University of Richmond in Richmond, VA.
Emily received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Meredith College in Raleigh in 2009. She received her Master of
Counselor Education from North Carolina State University in 2011. Emily is employed as a School Counselor at Winstead Avenue Elementary School in Rocky Mount.
Wesley received his Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2005. He is employed as a Sales Engineer with Viewpoint Construction Software.
Following a pre-honeymoon week at “The Lake House” in North Litchfield, S.C., Emily and Wesley continued their honeymoon in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
The couple will reside in Rocky Mount.
