New stoplight would improve road safety

There should be a stoplight at the corner of Jones Road and Sunset Avenue in the western part of our city. This location is right between Westview Baptist Church and the small shopping center which houses Lil Caesar’s Pizza, VIP Cleaners, and Hess Mart / Gas Station. Between the weekly hours – 6 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. – and on most Saturday afternoons, it is virtually impossible to make a left turn off of Jones Road onto Sunset Avenue. The traffic, at that time, is much too heavy; it’s hectic, and it seems almost an endless line of oncoming traffic on both sides of Sunset Avenue.

It is hoped that the resident people living in that area, who probably use that intersection much more than other motorists, would begin taking the proper steps in eliminating this unwarranted headache.
