City should concentrate on real problems

Our city council has done it again.

It seems they think our police need to be reviewed.

May I suggest instead we need some serious oversight into the crime in the black community – break-ins, drugs, etc.

Just look at our paper.

It is embarrassing for our city.

It seems we have an over abundance of fatherless children and that’s just the beginning.

Leave the police alone and concentrate on where the problem is.

As well as that lame duck excuse cowards use to poke and hide as you did. After making statements that condemns poor black people as Johnny Yuma did and are fearful to give your name so that when you're in public or at your place of employment and recognized you should be ready to stand your ground and defend your statements. A courageous person mean what they say and say what they mean and will give reason to whoever should enquire. Johnny Cunningham

Why isn't the RMPD doing more?

Probably because there would be charges of racism flying all over the community if they did crackdown on black crime, that's why. Assuming of course your opinion is correct. It's obvious the city leadership and NAACP is not interested in black-on-black crime, black crime in general and drug dealing in the black community. No, they are far more interested in going after some silly white children and their facebook posts. That is where their interest can be found. The white "boogey man" is the only way they can keep in power and maintain any degree of relevance. NOTE: this post is in response to Lasko's comments.

I'm lost for words, "NOTE: this post is in response to Lasko's comments" How?

You can't be serious......

Did you not state that the RMPD isn't doing enough to combat drug dealing and therefore crime in general in the black areas of Rocky Mount?

City Council

So you agree that it's responsible for the police dept. to allow drug dealings in "black communities?" The police know who's doing what, when and where in these "black communities" but do nothing about it but collect data and once that data is collected nothing is done, the PD know who's providing the drugs into black communities as well as the community. if you ask me can the PD do more? I would have to ask why aren't they? Why are they passing that responsibility on to the citizen? I thought they were sworn to serve and protect us, it's NOT !!!!! the citizens responsible to investigate crime nor to put yourselves in dangers path, IT'S THE ROCKY MOUNTS' POLICE RESPONSIBILITY TO SERVE AND PROTECT, IT'S WHAT THEY'RE BEING PAID TO DO, IT'S THERE JOB !!!!! But they've (PD) have lost focus and think it's our job.

Lasko, DUH!!!.............................

The responsibility for policing a community begins and ends with the community!!! The community can be black, red, white, or yellow, its policing belongs within the community!!! Communities must corporate with law enforcement if they wish their community to improve!!!

The City of Rocky Mount’s population is approximately 57,000. The police department for the City of Rocky Mount has approximately 215 personnel with only 108 personnel involved in the patrolling of the city. There is no way that a police department of that size can stop or prevent crime without the involvement of the community is a city with nearly 57,000 citizens.

The community does not belong to the police department it belongs to the citizens that live in the community. If the citizens want their community to improve and thrive they have to become the driving force in its improvement. The citizens must have concerns for the families that live in their community. The citizens of the community must be the ones who are eliminating out-of-wedlock births, eliminating fatherless homes, eliminating the selling of drugs, and most of all cooperating with the police when they are in the community. It is the citizens of the community that must be willing to report crime and identify those who are perpetrating the crimes in their community. The police aren’t doing the crime it is members of the community that are!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are crimes in all communities but it seems to be more prevalent in the black community more than any other ethnic community. Many are attributing the advanced stages of crime in the black community to the break-up of the family unit which has been exhibited by the over 70 percent our-of-wedlock birth rate, the fatherless homes, the unwillingness to work with police and the leaders , and most of all the dependency on the government for the substance needed to survive.

Johnny Cunningham AKA Lasko, if you are not reporting crime and assisting the police then you are part of the problem, if you are not taking steps to reduce out of-wedlock child births you are part of the problem, if you are not taking steps to reduce the fatherless homes in the black community you are part of the problem, and finally if you are not taking steps to get blacks off of depending on the government for their survival then you are part of the problem!!!

I will not even touch the agitators that keep the members of the black community in poverty and dependent on others for their survival!!!

DUH!!!!!!

How intelligent is that? What we have here is an individual who thinks his opinions are the only ones with merit but won't sign his name to those opinions. (DUH!!!!) Knows nothing about (living) in poverty or the choices those who do have to make everyday just to feed those (Ill gotten "fatherless children" (DUH!!!!) WELL!!!!! thank God those mothers didn't allow the white man to kill those children before birth and maybe with the help of us those children will have a better future. They sure as hell won't with people as Mr. Yuma because he has written them off as "part of the problem" according to his opinion. Mr. Yuma I don't see your name on the The ReGroup 1's supporters list nor have I seen you in any of our community meetings where we strategically implement plans that create jobs for those "fathers children" "out-of-wedlock births" ect. teaching them life skills to rebuild their lives and better futures for their children and the skills necessary to rebuild their communities. We DO NOT !!!! waste time on magnifying the problems when it should be obvious because people as Mr. Yuma only sees the problem and preach fire and brim stone on the unlearned poor. Mr. Yuma until your name appear on a list of problem solvers and not finger pointers WE suggest you stick to what you know because it's sure as hell clear you don't know jack schitt about children living in poverty. ("children" not the labels you condemn them with.) Until the Rmt. PD change "To serve and protect" and as long as our tax dollars pay their wages and as long as they are employees in the police dept. we will hold them accountable and responsible. Come on, whether a poster uses his/her actual name or not has absolutely no bearing on the nature of the message or what is being conveyed in the message. None at all. You and Dancy resort to that flimsy excuse whenever you lack an effective counter-argument. That silly bird no longer flies in the discussions here.
